The Much Awaited Fencing Post
Oh Les Amis, we have much to discuss.
So I drove all the way there with Ben McCabe's help and found the church. It was big and scary and kinda pretty. Noah met us in the parking lot :/ and they showed me upstairs. The gym's big...and...like a dungeon. I didn't get to see it when it was complete darkness because they've started putting in lights, but it was still pretty dark over our section. The room's really big though. The plaster on the ceiling was falling off and there were bare brick walls...but none of that mattered because I got to see some of my favorite people! I chatted with Danny and he showed me my armory which made me drool a little bit because it was spacious and it was secretly the women's crying room thing. It was really nice. With a couch and everything. Nothing will take away my love for the NW Buffalo Community Center, but that was one fine armory. Joel and Brian were doing electric which was interesting. I felt bad though because I didn't know more then half the people there--what's up with that? Turns out they're like "intermediate/beginners" under the control of....Joel. It was...yes.
So they called line up (on the random other side of the room, and I don't deal well with change) and Lisa walked in! yay! They announced a members meeting---yes!! so I was excited. I got dressed and stuff and headed over to the open group (I knew all of them by face at least) It was like Lisa, Brian, Ben, Noah, and the people who were in the intermediate group when we left. Martin and his daughter were there but they were on the other half the room for the most part. Anyway, Danny decided it would be cool to do advanced weapons for awhile--just an intro so it was ok. I let people hold my epee and I borrowed Lisa's sabre. Then Dana and Linda showed up (seperatly) so I had to gossip with Dana and hardcore fencing gossip with Linda. It was SO great to see her because we never see her anymore. Remember when she was our teacher? olllllllllllllllllld school. I showed her around the armory (because I know my way around now) and then we had to have our club meeting.
On the meeting: (I can't say much because non-club members read this...sorry!! I think they should be club members!) I must say that some things never change and Les Amis no matter where it is...is always the same. For example, this classic statement was, and shall be again reiterated:
Dear Joel
Please die,
signed,
the world.
Anyway there was a hardcore struggle of powers in the meeting, but we got some club business taken care of too...congrats Ben in being invited into the club!
The best part of the evening came next: Brian and I were fencing Epee and....I WON.
seriously. It was sweet.
The worst part of the evening was...oh God, I can't even say it. Well...see..Ian hasn't been able to make it recently...and Matt's in Texas (but still Cute) and I'm in Syracuse (but still Cute) (and of course Liz and Kevin are being Cute elsewhere) but...this leaves us without an armorer...
so...
the new armorer is...
please don't make me say it...
noah.
Will you please excuse me? I need to go...
RIP Old School Les Amis---I love you.
